My technical origin story is like many of you. Money was tight growing up so when I got a scholarship to pursue engineering, I was eager to improve my financial situation.
It wasn’t always easy.
When I told professors I wanted to pursue a Ph.D. they laughed at me. I’ve had technicians refuse to take my direction and I’ve given presentations where people got up and walked out because they didn’t want to hear from someone that looks like me.
But overall, I’ve had a great career spanning 25 years in strategy, operations, and innovation, most recently serving as Chief Innovation Officer at multibillion-dollar global steel producer, Aperam.
After leading 200+ scientists and engineers around the globe, and implementing $100MM+ in new products and processes, I had an epiphany:
My true passion is developing people, not products.
In 2021, I published what’s become Amazon’s #1 career guide for women in STEM, and I stepped away from my corporate job to launch Angelique Adams Media Solutions, LLC.
Now I’m a leadership advisor and executive coach to advanced-degree scientists and engineers in universities, national labs, start-ups, and corporations.
